I am a certified Usui Reiki Master with added training in Reiki for cancer, animals, infertility, pregancy and the newborn. Reiki is a Japanese, energy-based therapy that promotes healing and overall wellness. A reiki practitioner uses his or her hands to transmit energy to the recipient, which can be done in person or remotely. Reiki is used for relaxation, stress reduction, and symptom relief, to improve overall health and well-being. It has been used by people with cancer, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, fatigue, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and other health conditions, as well as by people recovering from surgery or experiencing side effects from cancer treatments. Reiki has also been given to people who are dying (and to their families and caregivers) to help impart a sense of peace and also helps with weight loss, bad habits, addictions, and fertility and pregnancy issues. What is a psychic medium? A psychic medium connects the living with the spirit of those who have departed. Not only is it comforting to know we are still connected, but our loved ones offer new perspectives and help us in current situations. Do you work with children? Absolutely! I experienced strong moments of empathy and compassion when those around me were struggling or hurting. I inherently knew there was more to life than what we were being told to accept. This understanding of human-to-human connection often made me feel different. I found myself searching to understand better not only my place in the world, but also to learn why we are all here on this earth. Full of curiosity, I constantly asked questions. The answers seemed incomplete. Bless my mom, as she was often the one bombarded with my questions. At a loss to answer, she would say, “I don’t know Darlene. We were just taught to accept.” Amidst all my questions, there was an overall sense that I was not alone. I could feel the presence of angelic support around me. I had flashes of knowing, experienced many things that cannot logically be explained and as a young teen, even did remote healing over the phone for my grandmother while my mother drove off to help her. Intrigued by my unique experiences, I readily accepted that I just knew things, referring to them as vibes. My roots are such a big part of who I am. I will always be eternally grateful for being born into a musical family. Song, Dance and Performing were my happy place. I was so blessed to have the opportunity to perform live and on TV and even had a bit part on the big screen. My roles were often the magical ones, such as Dorothy, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Jiminy Cricket and the Genie in Aladdin, among others. My sister and I did a live segment on The Cousin Ken Show. She taught dance and I portrayed a character named a Happaloo. I had an antenna and special glasses that allowed me to see out into TV land and talk to the children watching us. What an advanced learning about how to ad lib! For a Steve’s Shoes commercial, I wished upon a star to see the little old shoemaker come to life. These roles had a profound effect on who I am today, as they fostered a deep connection to my inner childlike wonder and belief in magic. Following in my mother’s footsteps, I began teaching children tap, jazz and ballet at the age of 14. I was so fulfilled to experience how I could make a difference. Eventually, I built my own business "Steps to the Stage" with a mission to instill self-confidence. My choreography and musical theatre business, allowed me to teach thousands of children and adults not only to dance, sing and act, but to believe in themselves and to pursue their dreams. I loved teaching and had planned to continue teaching, but another pathway was calling me. Looking back, it’s clear when the biggest shift happened for me and what the catalyst was for this new pathway. When my dad passed away 26 years ago, my clair senses came online in the biggest way. I could hear my dad, feel his touch, smell his cologne and he could help me find things. To say this was all eye-opening is an understatement. My new connection with my dad led me to open up more and more. My dad had been an usher in church and I could still feel him ushering. This time, however, he was ushering those who had passed to relay their messages through me.  When I received messages, my understanding was that it was an honor to deliver those messages, and it was of utmost importance that I follow through with that task. Relaying messages was not always easy, but in the process, I learned valuable skills that provided me with an intuitive know-how and deep trust in myself.  Initially, I believed that my ability was limited to passing along messages I received. In a moment of deep reflection, I asked myself if I could summon a connection. I heard an underlying whisper of yes, suggesting I might have been limiting my inner abundance. Letting go of fear, I shifted my thought process and asked my higher self to guide me in this. In an instant, I connected strongly with someone who had passed and my world changed. I realized my innate gift was more immense than I had ever dreamed and I could connect with willing departed souls simply by asking. It was almost as if there was a collective celebration of souls, and the response was overwhelming, quite literally. Next, I had to learn about a whole new world of boundaries and be very clear about how I wanted to shape and use this gift. I began to step outside my comfort zone and was approached about being a guest medium on KKFI Radio in Kansas City. I was terrified of the thought and every part of my body was saying no, but I knew it was going to change my life. And it did. In my segment, I discovered that I could talk to a stranger over a phone line and connect with their deceased loved one. My life purpose next called to me in an even bigger way and prompted me to move to California. I understood God was asking me to be of "big service". As I began to accept and strengthen my gifts, I expanded into various modalities and found many answers I had always known were there. Today, I use intuitive guidance, Reiki energy healing, mediumship, medical intuition and transformational speaking to not only help others believe in themselves but to trust their journey.
